Antarctica Visitor Guidelines

In 2006, Oceanites was tasked by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth office to draft the initial set of ten site-specific visitor guidelines the UK ultimately proposed for adoption by the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Parties.

These drafts were based on penguin/seabird population data site-descriptive information compiled by Oceanites’ Antarctic Site Inventory project.

It took three consultative meetings for this initial group to be adopted, which has now grown to more than 35, with the Inventory database continuing to be a key reference for new guidelines.
